Our Approach To Outdoor Learning
We are not influenced by any one approach to teaching and learning in nature. Our pedagogical approach draws upon rich global histories of nature-based practices. We are conscious of and work towards ensuring that we do not further perpetuate dominant western narratives through acts of cultural appropriation in our work together.
Some of the inspirations behind our approach to being in, with and of nature include; The Forest School Association, Braiding Sweetgrass (Robin Wall-Kimmerer), Children in Permaculture (Alderslowe), Consent Based Education (Christophy), Freedom to Learn (Gray), Rewilding Education (Hope), Unschooling (Holt), ‘Raising Free People’ (Akilah S Richards), ‘Ways of Council’ (Ojai Foundation), Deschooling Society (Ivan Illich) and Anarchist Pedagogies (ed. Robert H. Haworth).
All of these inspirations are approached through a holistic lens that includes the ‘Head, Hands and Heart’ (Pestalozzi) of all participants.

Filip
TRAINEE OUTDOOR ASSISTANT, FATHER, MOVEMENT FACILITATOR, (SELF-)HEALING FACILITATOR
My best and most important time as a child and young man was spent as part of the local youth group, as a child and from 18 as a leader. I love(d) playing in the local woods.
I have always been interested in how the body works and moves in particular. Even before I turned an adult myself, I knew I wanted to work with children, in various roles.Besides volunteering for the youth group, I studied kinesiotherapie (movement therapy). Later, when I moved to Scotland, I also got interested in yoga and did yoga teacher training.
From age 28 my most important role was as a father.. to one, two, three and now four children..
My aim is to really listen and respond to individuals with curiosity and compassion, in whatever role i am in, be it a father, an assistant, a ‘leader’, a friend, a ‘facilitator’.
